The Pfizer vaccine is a two dose Covid vaccine. You will get your second dose 3 weeks after your first. It takes 7 days after the 2nd dose for the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to work. The Pfizer vaccine is available to those aged 12 years and over. The Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine leaflet is available on the HSE website as well as guidance on COVID-19 vaccination for 12 to 15 year olds.
Booster doses will soon be available for 12 year olds and up.
A guide of what to expect after your vaccine along with the above will be made available. Photo ID is needed on the day of vaccination. Vaccine stocks are limited. Vaccines come in vials that contain multiple doses. We need to coordinate patient appointment times to minimise any wastage of vaccines once vaccine vials are opened. Vaccine doses are precious, and we all have a responsibility to minimise waste.
