The HSE has announced the timeline for the second booster programme of the COVID-19 vaccines. The second doses of the booster vaccines are being offered to people who:

  • Have a weak immune system (immunosuppressed or immunocompromised)
  • Pregnant women (from 16 weeks)
  • Aged 55 and older

It is necessary to notice that you must wait at least four months after getting your last COVID-19 vaccine before receiving a booster.

In case you had COVID-19, you also must wait a minimum of four months to get the second booster dose.

The importance of keeping your vaccines up-to-date is to make sure that even if you already had been vaccinated or tested positive for COVID-19 you still be protected, preventing you to be at higher risk of severe disease if contaminated with COVID-19.

We will be able to administer Pfizer second booster doses to the following cohorts on the dates outlined below:

  • Monday, 22 August individuals aged 55 or older; and
  • Monday, 29 August individuals aged 50 or older.
